Facing Polarization in Today’s Cultural and Spiritual Landscape

As a Footprints research group, we are always attentive to reflections that help us understand how polarisation and conflict shape today’s cultural and spiritual landscape. The recent article “Enfrentados”, by Ignacio González Sexma and published in La Civiltà Cattolica, offers a sharp and nuanced reading of the logics that pit individuals and communities against each other, and of the subtle ways in which ideological and media dynamics feed mistrust and fragmentation.

We share it with our community because it resonates strongly with our concern for the relational fabric of young people’s lives: friendship, family, faith, social belonging. In Footprints we believe that listening carefully to these kinds of analyses is essential if we want to accompany the new generations in building spaces of encounter, dialogue and reconciliation, rather than merely reproducing the antagonisms of the world that surrounds them.
